A Fast and Easy Homeschool Transcript Service That You Will Love!
First of all, what is a homeschool transcript and why do we need to have one? Basically, a homeschool transcript takes all the hard work your teen has done over their high school years and concisely puts these accomplishments on an official document for College Admissions offices and others. The homeschool transcript includes your senior’s demographic information, classes, grades, GPA, and credit hours, and is signed by the parent certifying its completion.

I find what it doesn’t reflect is all the time and effort you and your child have put into finishing these courses. You know how much work it took for your high schooler to follow through on those assignments and accomplish that grade. Homeschooling is definitely a labor of love and we are so proud of our children when they have achieved it. It amazes me how all that work comes down to this official homeschool transcript that people use to make decisions based on their performance. But that is what colleges and others are looking for. They want it simple, concise, complete, and accurate.
Calculate your grade for your courses as they are completed. Don’t wait.
One of the major things I learned and can’t emphasize enough is be sure you are collecting your grades as your teenager completes their classes. Do not wait until the last minute and then try to grade everything. Use whatever method works for you to keep organized. I use a hanging file plastic tote. I file the work from each class with the grade calculated in a hanging file folder after completion. Then when high school is finished, everything is organized and filed in one box. You can even use different color files for math, science, english, history, or sort by year. This makes it easier to find what you are looking for and you have documentation in case you are ever audited for some reason or if colleges want additional information on your courses. By having the grades calculated as you go, it makes completing your homeschool transcript a lot smoother. Then you can concentrate on your Senior’s Celebration and your accomplishment too Mom and Dad! All this to help prepare for their future.
Colleges and Universities are not the only ones who use a Homeschool Transcript
A homeschool transcript is not just used for College Admissions. There are many other uses that may save you money, as well as further your son or daughters career in the long run. They include but are not limited to:
Auto Insurance Discounts: When you add your teenager to your auto insurance, ask the them about a discount if your child did well in high school. Most insurances have a discount and will ask for your homeschool transcript for documentation. I was grateful when our agent asked us about it and I had one ready to send her. It was a nice surprise.
Employers: In addition to a resume, employers may ask for your a homeschool transcript when there isn’t a lot of work experience. It is good to have a transcript available at the interview.
Scholarships: I was on a scholarship committee and one of the main things we looked at to determine who would get a scholarship was their homeschool transcript. It might be the higher GPA or the course types that can make a difference in a decision. You want to be sure these are accurate and complete.
Military: If your child decides to join the Military, one thing they will look at is the homeschool transcript when determining admission.
Trade Schools/Apprenticeship programs: May also ask for a copy of your homeschool transcript.
Major colleges and universities usually require a specific format for a homeschool transcript. If you have a specific college in mind, you may have to check with them to see how they want your transcript formatted. Fortunately, fasttranscripts.com already has this covered.
As you can see, an Official High School Homeschool Transcript is important and may be worth using a homeschool transcript service…
Why I recommend…
This homeschool transcript service has many features that set them apart from other transcript services such as:
- You can enter your course grades and information as you go along in high school so that you will not have a lot to do all at the end.
- They provide an Error-catching algorithm (audit) which flags 703 common mistakes that people make when doing their own transcripts.
- They have automated course names AND course descriptions and if you don’t want to use theirs you can put in your own.
- They will send secure watermark or digital transcripts directly from their Homeschool Clearinghouse to 4,397 colleges & universities.
- They will Class Rank! Previously unavailable to homeschoolers…you choose whether to include it to advance your student’s acceptance chances or not.
I personally like these features as well:
- They have an automatic GPA calculator.
- The grading scale is right there available for you to see. No need to go researching for one.
- They list the required credits and classes needed for high school right next to the form. Whether you want general high school, general college bound, or rigorous college prep, the information is right there for you.
- They provide an entry for all the requirements needed on the transcript so when you have completed it, you are confident that it is complete and you met the requirements.
- You can have it quickly digitally emailed to where you need it or download a PDF of the transcript to take it with you.
