The Importance of Putting Your Marriage in a “Time Out”
As a stay at home mom I have had plenty of occasions to put my children in a time out for bad behavior. But sometimes you and your spouse need a time out so you can reconnect. To remind you of the simple pleasures of being alone together to stroll the streets, explore a new area, make decisions on what to do or order at a restaurant based just on how you feel in the moment!!
Our Experience
The above picture is me at a bed and breakfast for a one night “time out” with my husband. We spent the time reconnecting to show each other that we can still just be together as a couple without the need to have all the activity of life to make us complete or comfortable. We found we can still enjoy each other’s company, can talk about the future, share our interests and hopes and dreams. It was refreshing and comforting to know we are still on the same page and not just going through the motions of life to wind up tired and drifting apart!
We were able to remember that our life together started a long time ago when we were focused on college and each other. Especially since we have added so much more with kids, aging parents and work responsibilities this was a well needed time out.
We had a wonderful time that demonstrated we still just enjoy each other’s company and are working towards new goals for our life together. In fact, we are finding our time outs are lasting a couple days now.
In Summary
Make sure you take “time out” for your Marriage. It may be what you need to start that spark again and find the initial love you have for each other is still there. For more resources to help your marriage click the post below.
